My cute boyfriend and I went to Black Bear Diner this past Sunday. Everyone I’ve talked to who has been there has given it golden reviews. (My sister even worked as a waitress there briefly before a couple of teens got her fired over a sandwich that she asked if she could fix before she got of shift. But that’s a different story.) All I’ve been hearing is star reviews about portion sizes and the quality of the food. So I dragged my boyfriend there.
I got the “Hot Turkey Plate,” and Iced Tea with lemon, and bread pudding and paid $22 for it total. The portion sizes were honestly normal for American diner expectations. So that was disappointing right off the bat. The drink prices were honestly a little bit pricey (I think it was like $2.79 for an iced tea.) And the bread pudding was great albeit a little burnt at the bottom. The turkey was really good though, actual turkey meat. It came with a choice of mixed vegetables or green beans (which I opted for,) turkey gravy (which was amazing,) a side of cranberry sauce, and red skinned mashed potatoes (which my boyfriend finished and he said they were the greatest he’s had.) Overall, I went in with high expectations, and the food was good, but not great.
